Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a soft, fat-like, waxy substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body's cells. Our body needs cholesterol; it is necessary to build up healthy cells and produce hormones. It's an important part of a healthy body, used for producing cell membranes, some hormones, energy, and also serves other needed bodily functions. What is harmful is too much, or bad cholesterol with which you are running the major risk for coronary heart disease, which leads to a heart attack, and for a stroke.

When too much LDL (bad) cholesterol circulates in the blood, it can slowly build up in the inner walls of the arteries that feed the heart and brain. Together with other substances, it can form plaque, a thick, hard deposit that can narrow the arteries and make them less flexible.ÊThis condition is known as atherosclerosis. If a clot forms andÊblocks a narrowed artery, a heart attack or stroke can result.

We created a special program for evaluating your cardiac risk factors and may offer a plan of treatment according to your risk level. It may involve a treatment with diet, medications, natural remedies and life modifications.
